Timber House
Situated on a large plot in Noordhoek with mountain views to the North and sea views to the West, the design is composed of solid planes that hold open glazed corners that take in the views. Built predominantly out of natural materials, such as timber, rammed earth and stone, the building becomes part of the landscape. Large floating overhangs minimise the heat gain in summer.
The interiors have been developed in collaboration with by MR. Following the client’s sensibility for soft natural materials, various interior elements will be bespoke hand-made pieces commissioned from local South African makers. An extensive indigenous garden with eco pool enhances the ecological sensibility and focus on sustainable design.
